Phil Dando first formed a brass trio, in London, in 1974. It became the Welsh Brass Trio ten years later when he returned to Wales to live. Phil’s career has, for thirty five years, encompassed many orchestras, swing bands, West End Musicals, television and radio shows. Throughout all of this, he has continued to enjoy sharing his love of brass with many thousands of children and adults alike through the Welsh Brass Trio.

Alun Rees
Alun Rees

Alun Rees first played in the Trio whilst studying at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. That was sixteen years ago and is infectious wit has transformed many a performance since. Children call him ‘the naughty one’!! Despite this , he is a fine horn player having performed with many of our major orchestras. He has spent the last six years on tour in Cats, Phantom of the Opera, Miss Saigon, Flashdance and other top musicals.


Andrew Jones
Andrew Jones

Born in Carmarthen, West Wales, Andrew started playing the Cornet at the age of 8 with the Crwbin Silver Band. He was a founder member of the National Youth Brass Band of Wales and a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Wales and the British Youth Wind Orchestra. In 1985, Andrew studied Trumpet at the Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff under Thomas Procter and graduated with a Diploma in Music Performance, with Distinction.
